Real Stories of Recovery and Success at Avid Sports Medicine.
EXCELLENT 9 reviewsPosted on Deborah Cohan I came to Dr. Veronica Jow for a shockwave therapy consultation for bilateral shoulder pain and knee pain. Prior to the treatment, I had pain putting on my socks and shirt. Two months later, I was able to ice hike in Patagonia! The pain is 80% better and I’m thrilled. I had tried steroid and toradol injections but it was ultimately the shockwave therapy and EMTT that worked. Thank you Dr. Jow!Posted on Nature33 I thought I might not be able to run again and the inability to exercise was very unhealthy. But the PRP injection, strengthening exercises, and ultrasound imaging from Avid (and an MRI from insurance covered clinic) allowed me to recover from a tricky injury. Excellent staff and clinic!Posted on Richard Tover Huge shoutout to the team at Avid! I came in with some pretty serious pain in my achilles while ramping up training for the SF Half Marathon. I wasn’t sure how i was going to manage the pain or continue my training but after consulting with Dr. Jow, i was provided a recovery program along with multiple treatments of Shockwave Therapy. Between the Shockwave treatments helping to manage the pain and the provided recovery program i was able to continue training for the half marathon and completing it without discomfort. The care and dedication from the staff is unmatched. It felt good being in the hands of those who understood the needs of my health and athletic goals. Thanks again to the all star staff and excellent facility!Posted on Osita Ighodaro Really good instruction on how to address injuries. By far the best experience I’ve had with physical therapists.Posted on Giovanna Romaguera Avid is awesome! I’ve had the pleasure of visiting their space for both fitness classes and a wellness rave. I appreciate how Dr. Jow and the team take a holistic approach to health. The Circuit Burner fitness class is the perfect combo of strength and mobility, highly recommend! Keep an eye out for their events as well, this is a wonderful community to be a part of if you’re interested in health and wellness.Posted on Austin Lang Great facility and getting excellent care from Dr Jow. Starting to feel an improvement in knee pain after a couple of PRP treatments and physical therapy with Liz. Still have a ways to go on treatment but very happy so far.Posted on thip Avid Sports Medicine is amazing! Dr. Jow and Julieta put patient care above everything. I have progressive neurodegenerative disease, and Julieta has patiently worked to restore my mobility, stability and balance. I am fortunate that I am receiving the best care possible. Julieta treats me like I am a strong capable person and motivates me to keep moving. I highly recommend them.Posted on A C I appreciate and trust Dr. Jow and the practice staff.Posted on Kim Decker You know how runners talk about their “running journeys”? For, like, EVER, my running journey had been one of fits and starts—two steps forward and one (or three) steps back. I’d start on a sound and sober training program with gradual progression of volume and intensity, I’d do the strength and conditioning, I’d warm up even before the easy runs and stretch after—TLDR, I’d do all the right things. And yet still: I’d hurt. I wasn’t getting injured per se; rather, I’d get into a running groove until—all of a sudden—some random part of my lower body would just fall off a cliff of pain for no reason and I’d blame the running and stop… …Until I couldn’t help myself and I’d start again. And so the pattern would repeat itself. Thankfully, the last time this cycle got spinning again, my running coach pointed me to Avid Sports Medicine. Unlike any of the docs, chiros, PTs, bodywork specialists—you name ‘em—whom I’d consulted before about this pain cycle, Avid’s Dr. Jow and Julieta weren’t just able to figure out what was causing my troubles (can anyone say “scoliosis”?!); they helped me address that cause with exercises that I can do in the comfort and privacy of my own home. And guess what: They work! About a year and a quarter after first winding up in Avid’s office convinced that my body just wasn’t compatible with running—but still too stubborn to give up—I ran my first half marathon last weekend and got sixth place in my age group out of a total of 142 women. And that t felt bloody GREAT! I honestly owe it to Julieta’s expertise and wisdom—and, okay, to my own consistency in doing my exercises daily. It takes dedication. But it’s so worth it if it means I can run, challenge myself and get better—without pain. Thank you, Avid!Load more
